J. Timothy Ogden, M.D.
John Ogden, M.D., offers non-operative and operative treatment of most orthopaedic conditions, including, but not limited to, computer navigated total knee arthroplasty, hip and shoulder arthroplasty, rotator cuff repair, fracture care, carpal tunnel releases and other nerve compressions, synvisc injections for knee osteoarthritis and ankle and limited foot fusions for arthritis. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery.
Dr. Ogden earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center. He completed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Louisiana State University Medical Center.
Jonathan L. Grantham, M.D.

Jonathan Grantham, M.D., provides comprehensive orthopaedic care to patients of all ages, with a subspecialty in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. Dr. Grantham earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Kansas City. He completed his internship at Surgery Naval Hospital and his residency in orthopaedics at the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Kansas City.
Dr. Grantham is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery. He has also received certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Robert F. Stringer, D.O.
Robert Stringer, D.O., provides general orthopaedic care to patients of all ages. Dr. Stringer earned his degree from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Tulsa Regional Medical Center and his internship at Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital, both located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Dr. Stringer is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
James D. “Dusty” Smith, M.D.
Dr. Smith completed his spine surgery fellowship at the prestigious Leatherman Spine Institute in Louisville, KY. There Dr. Smith had the unique opportunity to train with both orthopaedic spine surgeons and neurosurgeons to ensure complete knowledge of care of the spine. Dr. Smith has a keen interest in cervical spine (neck) pathology and surgical techniques as well comfort and knowledge of the entire spine. Dr. Smith sees patients of all ages and accepts all insurance plans.
Michael L. Hearndon D.O.
Dr. Hearndon earned his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). While in residency he was the founder and Resident Mentor for the UAMS Musculoskeletal Interest Group. Dr. Hearndon concluded his training with a Musculoskeletal/ Interventional Pain Fellowship with Georgia Pain Physicians.
Dr. Hearndon focuses on a hands-on approach to pain relief with a combination of a judicious use of interventional techniques and therapy over pharmacologic treatments. He also utilizes Osteopathic Manipulation Therapy (OMT).
He incorporates alternative methods of pain management and teaches patients self-healing techniques through specific training and correction of postures and muscle imbalance.

J. Christopher Banwart, M.D.
Dr. Banwart sub-specializes in knee and hip replacements offering the latest in computer assisted knee replacement and Shape Match ® technology. His focus is complication prevention and multimodal pain management post-op. Dr. Banwart’s practice is limited to knee and hip replacement and revision knee and hip replacement.
Dr. Banwart earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1992 and completed his orthopaedic residency in 1997 from University of Kansas, Wichita.
He did two fellowships; the first in sports medicine at the Lake Tahoe orthopaedic
Institute, the second a joint replacement and revision fellowship at the Kansas Joint Replacement Institute.
Dr. Banwart is board certified in orthopaedic surgery.
Brian J. Ipsen, M.D.
Dr. Ipsen is a fellowship trained Spine Surgeon. He was a native of central Missouri prior to his medical training in Kansas City. Dr. Ipsen graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine where he was also inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He then stayed on at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and affiliated hospitals to complete his orthopedic surgery residency. Dr. Ipsen concluded his training with a combined Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Spine Surgery Fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. He is an active member of the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Ipsen’s specialty focuses on adult spinal disorders, including the treatment of cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine pathology. His particular interests include cervical spine disorders, minimally invasive techniques, and motion preserving technology. He specializes in neck surgery and low-back surgery as well as general orthopaedic care.
Paul W. Toma, D.O.
Dr. Toma is a 1979 graduate of Oklahoma State College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He completed his internship in 1980 at Doctor’s Osteopathic Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania. He then completed a one-year general surgery residence at Garden City Hospital in Garden City, Michigan. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency in 1984 at Metro Health Center in Erie, Pennsylvania. From 1984 to 1986, he practiced in Junction City, Kansas. Since that time, he has been in practice in Joplin, Missouri. Dr. Toma is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
He enjoys outdoor activities including hunting and fishing.
Dr. Toma has been married since 1979 to Joplin/Carthage pediatrician Denise M. Hamar, D.O. They are the parents of one son, Michael, of Springfield, Missouri.
Mark E. McNemar, D.O.
Dr. McNemar is a fellowship trained Hand/Upper Extremity and Microvascular Surgeon. He was a native of Columbus, Kansas prior to his medical training in Kansas City. Dr. McNemar graduated from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences where he was also inducted into the Sigma Sigma Phi Honor Society. He then moved to Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis and affiliated hospitals to complete his orthopedic surgery residency. Dr. McNemar concluded his training with a combined Hand/Upper Extremity and Microvascular Fellowship at the University of Texas at San Antonio/Hand Center of San Antonio. He is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
Dr. McNemar’s specialty focuses on disorders of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, including the treatment of carpal tunnel, wrist, elbow, and shoulder arthritis, as well as, rotator cuff pathology and microsurgical repair of nerves and vessels. He specializes in all disorders from the shoulder to the finger tip.
Dr. McNemar is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He also has his AOA board certification in Hand Surgery.
Thomas F. Satterly D.O.
Dr. Satterly specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery and utilizes the latest technology to do so including computer assisted surgery and custom made cutting blocks. He also specializes in complex hip and knee revision surgery for infected or failed total joint replacements.
Dr. Satterly graduated summa cum laude from Truman State University in 2002 and graduated from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006. He completed an orthopedic residency at Des Peres Hospital in 2011, and then went to The Center for Orthopedic Research and Education in Phoenix, AZ to do a fellowship in hip and knee replacements with Dr. David Jacofsky who was recently named one of the top 26 knee surgeons in the United States. He was also named to the Top Doctor list in Phoenix AZ by the International Association of Orthopedic Surgeons.
